Chaeso Market Branding

Chaeso Market, based in Washington D.C, is a grocery market that focuses on bringing fresh produce to its community. For Chaeso Market (meaning vegetable in Korean) I designed cohesive branding material that could be used for their marketing. I designed their logo, business card, mission statement, and envelope. I illustrated the logo and the designs that could be used consistently throughout their branding, and chose a color palette that would be associated with natural and wholesome produce.

Finnegan Brew Tea Packaging

Finnegan Brew is a tea company that focuses on a variety of tea flavors and was my client for their tea packaging design. I focused heavily on the image making process through the use of photography, editing, and illustration. I replicated three vintage paintings that corresponded with western tea culture. This work was also featured as Best In Show at American University's Design Show 2022.

Design Decoded Masthead and Article

Design Decoded is a magazine that writes about various design topics. I designed the masthead and logo of the magazine and one of its articles titled "Traditional Elegance Meets Psychedelic Futurism In This Type Trend". This article talks about the prevalence of futuristic typefaces that have made waves in modern design trends. I used photoshop, illustration, and typography to create compositions that coincided with the contents of the article. This work was also featured at American University's Design Show 2022.

Working Creatures At Home

Many of us were not used to the changes that came with the global pandemic, especially working from home. It may have been hard to stay focused, as if our head was in the clouds in a constant haze. I designed for an article titled "Work Creatures At Home", where I created images and used typography that conveyed the feeling of working from home. I photographed most of the images, edited in photoshop, and used Adobe Fresco for the illustrations. Overall, I used typography and image making to create a cohesive magazine spread about working from home.

APA Contest Poster

For my graphic design position at Heritage Series, I designed social media and marketing material for Asian Pacific American Heritage month. Heritage Series is a company that works to preserve the history and contributions of Asian Pacific Islander American public servants while creating an archival record of their service and contributions to society. For May 2022, Heritage Series held their APA contest for high school and college students to share what does being APA mean to them. I worked on creating a color palette and using a consistent pattern throughout all the designs to highlight various Asian cultures.

Crime and Punishment Book Jacket

Crime and Punishment is one of the world's most know and acclaimed novels. I redesigned the front, back, and side flaps of this book jacket to convey the mood of the entire novel. The color palette and the illustrations convey the somber emotions of the main protagonist and the time period. I also illustrated the figure in the front of the book jacket, the St. Petersburg church in the background, and the image of the author in the inside flap.

Helvetica Specimen Sheet

Known for its neutrality and simplicity, Helvetica is one of the of the most popular and widely used fonts in the world It is a neutral typeface that has made its ways into logos, signage, oysters, and clothing. These specimen sheets are meant to convey two different styles and concepts that still embody the Helvetica typeface. The first poster highlights Helvetica's Swiss/ international typographic style and type anatomy. The second poster shows Helvetica's prevalent use in the NYC subway and its neutrality that makes it a readable type.

Bodoni is one of the most beloved typefaces that was first designed by Giambattista Bodoni. It has been popularly used as a display font in logos and titles because of its bold and geometric look. I designed a short book to showcase the history, type anatomy, and the current uses of Bodoni. I used a concise color palette, images, and typography throughout this book.

Earth Day 2022 Desktop and Mobile Design

This year for Earth Day 2022 I designed a single page responsive website that highlighted ways people can celebrate from home. I chose to focus on sustainable fashion and highlight the differences between fast and ethical fashion companies. I chose to focus clearly on environmental impact and price ranges. I chose the best photos for the subject matter and created illustrations to enhance the design.

Mila Polish Advertisement Poster

Mila Nail Polish was my client for their spring 2022 collection. I designed a poster for their new nail polish collection through photography, illustration, and typography. I focused on creating a poster that focused on spring and the colors of the polish. I used flowers to make the polishes appear as large vases and the illustrations make the composition feel like a spring day.
